CARE FOR THE FAMILY

Care for the Family is a national charity aiming to promote strong family life and offering help to those hurting from family breakdown.  They offer a variety of support to strengthen marriages, support parents and help those bereaved.

At Hillview we run a number of Care for the Family courses open to everybody to attend.
 

21^ST CENTURY PARENTING 

We use the Care for the Family DVD series to present this course. It is four informal sessions lasting two hours each, covering a variety of topics including

• Accepting your child
• The testing child
• Building a sense of value
• Defending the boundaries
• Teenagers

Each week we look at two topic areas and get some great tips, share experiences and get a chance to think through how to make things work in our own situations.

This series can be run on a Monday or Friday morning, with a crèche is available for pre-school children; or in an evening. This year's courses have already finished but more will be arranged for school years 2011/2012, we book them when we have 4 or more people interested so please show your interest by emailing the church office with your contact details and someone will send you more details!

DRUG PROOF YOUR KIDS

We can’t protect our kids from drugs, but we can be better informed and know how to address the subject with them. This is a five week course of two hour sessions run by our trained course leaders. We cover topics such as

• Get to know about drugs – how and why they are used
• How to communicate effectively with children about drugs
• Help your children make good decisions about drugs

We are currently using a course led at Kingfisher Church, Tredworth; but we are hoping to make this available in the Hucclecote area in 2012. Please contact the church by email and we will send you some more information.
