At Hillview we are committed to meeting as a large group altogether at the Sunday services, but feel it is important to meet in smaller groups on a regular basis.

These groups provide an opportunity to get to know others and develop deeper friendships. They offer a place of support and encouragement, a time to share and discuss relevant Christian issues – often following the bible teaching on the previous Sunday. These small groups are a place where we can belong, receive pastoral care, grow in our faith, pray for one another and have fun!

Groups tend to meet in the evenings of the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, in homes around the local area. We encourage all who attend the church regularly to be part of one of these groups.

Being a Christian in this fallen world can helpfully be seen as like climbing a mountain. The journey is difficult and dangerous with many challenges that can make us stronger or cause us to give up. But, you should never climb alone. Mt Everest is littered with people who tried alone and lost their lives. In climbing mountains you need a team around you to support you, help you, encourage you, stop you from wandering down the wrong path etc - the same is true of our journey of faith.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says
‘Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: If they fall down, they can help each other up. But pity those who fall and have no one to help them up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.’

We would like to take these final words ‘a cord of three strands is not quickly broken’ and use them to encourage each of us, to get into a ‘Cord of Three’ Christians who meet together regularly for encouragement, prayer and accountability. There are already a good number of these groups at Hillview who have found them a significant blessing in their Christian journey.

We want to encourage everybody to find two others to walk this journey with, to stick close to, to encourage and be encouraged by. Why not begin praying about who to ask to join with in your 'C3'? Or send an email to office@hillviewchurch.net to get some help with finding the right people!
